GPT Image 1 does two jobs. It creates an image from a written prompt, and it edits using images you add as a reference. Either way, you get the generated images back.
To create an image, you only write a prompt. This part has no settings. To edit, you write a prompt, add reference images, and can change four settings. Image Size can be auto, 1024x1024, 1536x1024 or 1024x1536. Background can be auto, transparent or opaque. Quality can be auto, low, medium or high. Input Fidelity can be low or high, and it starts at high.
GPT Image 1 costs 20-70 credits. It has no mask option for marking the part to edit, which GPT Image 1.5 has. It has an Input Fidelity setting, which GPT Image 1 Mini does not.
Same job: create a picture from a description. Compare before you choose.
